Hack & tinker your way through Toronto's makerspace scene!

Kick-off CASC  with a Maker Education tour-de-force, exploring Toronto's unique landscape of makerspaces that can be found in libraries, museums, science centres, and community-based organizations. This one-day field trip will explore 5 different styles of makerspaces in Toronto. No experience required. Participants will gain first-hand knowledge of makerspace design, tools, equipment and range of programming offered at different spaces (and will get to make something!)

Behind the scenes of the Aquarium’s life support systems & animal husbandry areas.

Toronto’s newest and most exciting attraction, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, opened its doors to the public in October 2013. Containing over 5.7 million litres of water, the 12,500 square metre (135,000 square foot) interactive attraction immerses guests in a thrilling underwater adventure that showcases more than 16,000 marine animals. Canada’s largest indoor aquarium features the biggest shark collection in North America, one of the world’s most extensive jelly fish exhibits, sting ray and bamboo shark touch pools and daily live dive shows.  This pre-conference workshop includes general admission to the Aquarium and a guided behind the scenes tour of the Aquarium’s Life Support systems and animal husbandry areas.

Registrants are welcome to arrive early for a self-guided tour of the Aquarium from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.*
