> CASC 2022 Conference Schedule & Registration

CASC 2022: ACTION TO IMPACT is a virtual conference, presented by the Canadian Association of Science Centres. In a time of disruption, with organizations facing limited resources, the CASC 2022 conference will examine actions for driving courageous change and creating generational impact.

Update your calendars! We've added an extra day of learning for our conference registrants. CASC 2022 will take place from May 24-27, 2022. We are still finalizing the details but here is a preliminary schedule of the (now) four-day virtual event. 


Early Bird registration opens March 24, 2022 and will run through to April 19, 2022. Click here for individual and group fees.

> New additions to the CASC Reciprocal Agreement

The CASC reciprocal agreement entitles science centre and museum membership holders (i.e. families and individuals) General Admission (at no additional cost) when they visit other participating institutions across Canada.

> Join our 2022-2023 Board of Directors

We’re looking for new talent and perspectives to join our 2022-2023 Board of Directors! This is an exciting leadership role that will help shape the future of informal science engagement in Canada.

Our CASC Annual General Meeting will take place virtually on Thursday, April 28, 2022, 1:00-2:00 pm ET

This Nomination Memo (doc.), on behalf of the Board Recruitment Committee provides information on how to nominate someone (or yourself) to join the CASC Board of Directors. Each nominee must be a current member of CASC from any of the following categories:

  • Individual Member (can join here if not currently a member)
  • Be an officer or employee of a Science Centre/Museum Member, or
  • Be an officer or employee of an Affiliate Member

While not limited to these areas, the Governance committee encourages and will prioritize applications from individuals with experience in Diversity, Equity, Inclusiveness, Accessibility (DIEA), Indigenous awareness and relations, and/or Financial Management & Fundraising.

The deadline for CASC Board nominations is March 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm ET.

STEAM is for everyone and that is what we at The Gorilla Store want our customers to know. We developed from an electronic surplus store and into a STEAM based educational specialty store. Our main focus is inclusion in all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Our hope is to bring DIY Kits and Bits to children and adults alike so that they may learn and explore without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated. We encourage all to interact and explore the world around them!

              • Science Odyssey: (May 7-22, 2022) Science Outreach leaders: partner up with Science Odyssey by submitting your event and expanding your reach.

              • Science Literacy Week: (September 19 -25, 2022) Get your calculators out, Science Literacy Week will be celebrating the wonderful world of mathematics.
            • Environment and Climate Change Canada
              • DRAFT 2022 to 2026 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) for a 120-day public consultation available for your review at www.fsds-sfdd.ca. The Strategy sets out the Government of Canada's sustainable development priorities from an environmental perspective, establishes goals and targets, and identifies actions to achieve them. It is also the first to be framed using the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on their environmental elements.

                We encourage you to share your thoughts on the draft strategy as well as your sustainable development priorities by July 9, 2022.

                • Reconciliation In STEM: March 24, 2022 from 7PM -9PM EDT
                  A Youtube live panel discussion about the impact of reconciliation on the stories and careers of Indigenous community members in STEM. 
              • Royal Canadian Institute for Science (RCIScience)

                • The 2022 Science Communication Awards: RCIScience is now accepting nominations for its annual awards recognizing excellence in Canadian science communication. Nominations must be submitted by no later than March 31 2022.

                          FUNDING

                          • Sustainable Capacity Foundation supports the Canadian environmental sector in capacity building. Grants are awarded to assist with capacity building efforts in a range of areas - Learn more here.

                          • The Canada Post Community Foundation awards $25,000-$50,000 grants to Canadian schools, charities, and community organizations that make a difference in the lives of children and youth in Canada. Open from March 7 to March 31, 2022.
